WASHINGTON HEIGHTS/INWOOD ISSUES
While campaigning I heard many complaints. I have lived in Washington Heights for nearly 20 years and feel the same disgust - with problems and the refusal of insincere leaders to help.
Your current local elected officials do not seem to be primarily interested in power, supporting their friends, and money. Keep electing these types and you’ll enjoy loud motorcycles running through reds lights and threatening your life, graffiti by gangs, rising crime, homeless vomiting and defecating on your street, chained-shut parks, subway stations filled with homeless and drug users, city officials who love to cut down trees in open space, and failing schools
You, as a voter, must hold candidates to a high standard. If not you’ll continue to. If you want more of that, remain complacent. If you want change, elect quality people serious about cleaning things up.
Homeless in the 190th St. subway. One is shooting up (on heroin?). Another vomits at 7:30 A.M. (horible to watch). Others sleep, making "home" of the subway. It is a reflection of deterioration in our neighborhood - the legacy of apathetic local politicians more concerned about power, money, and helping their political cronies. They refuse to take action to imporve our neighborhood.
